The panel envisions a reformed metaverse. The current metaverse prioritizes advertisers and corporations at the expense of users. Social media platforms are collecting and then selling the information of users making something of a surveillance state. The panelists imagine a new blockchain that will prioritize users. They desire and are working towards a version of the web that will protect the privacy of online users in the virtual world and prevent authoritarian regimes from utilizing it to oppress their people.
