Porch Swing Implodes On Family During Picture Time

Admittedly, this video starts a bit slow, but trust us, the denouement is worth the wait. Plus, who doesn’t love seeing a big fluffy dog roll around in the dirt? Besides, you know, who ever has to give him a bath.

Whenever families get together there is always that awkward moment when pictures MUST happen…

What is it about family picture time that is just so interminable and awkward? Personally, I think it is because you never take pictures at an opportune time. Instead, pictures are taken immediately before an event or immediately after one. Here are a couple of examples of what I mean. At a family gathering it always seems that pictures will happen right before a meal is supposed to happen. You don’t want to be there because you want to go eat, but now you have to pose with 15 cousins in separate photos with each. Ugh, it’s taking forever! The other example seems to be that grandma or mom decides that photos need to be taken just as everyone is gearing up to leave.

This family thought the dog misbehaving was the worst part of picture time, they were VERY wrong!

You are ready to go, having sneakily placed your jacket nearby and quietly slipped your shoes on. But no! Out comes the camera and now it’s an extra 20 to 30 minutes of forced poses and smiles. Terrible! My suggestion is that you should do family photos the minute that the last person to arrive walks in the door. Let them take their coat off and put their bags down, but then you immediately take pictures. Bam, everyone is fresh and it’s not like you’re going anywhere. I think we’ve solved this problem.
