Dancing Around (Cyclone) Gabrielle

Ex- tropical Cyclone Gabrielle hit the East Coast of New Zealand overnight on the 13th/14th February 2023.
We woke up to no power, communications, or real understanding of the extent of the devastation. We are among the lucky ones.
This is my story of the first week after Gabrielle hit and the events that unfolded. Of how I was away from home and travelled across the country to be flown home by a bush pilot with a bunch of aid for the region.
