Ingredients for chocolate muffins:

1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 and 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup unsalted, softened butter
1/2 cup caster sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla essence
1/4 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup milk chocolate chips
2 eggs

Instructions:

1.Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a muffin tin with 6 muffin liners.
2. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda. Set aside.
3. In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter, caster sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
5. Next, add milk, vanilla essence and beat until well combined.
6. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
7. Gently fold in the milk chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
8. Divide the batter evenly among the 6 muffin liners.
9. Top the muffins with chocolate chips.
10. Bake for 5 minutes at 400°F then, keeping the muffins in the oven, reduce the oven temperature to 350°F and bake for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
11. Remove the muffins from the oven and let them cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
12. Once cooled, serve and enjoy your delicious homemade chocolate muffins!
