Edith Mary Kingdon Gould (August 24 1864 – November 1921) was an American actress and Gilded Age hostess. She married George Jay Gould in 1885 at the age of 21, when he was also 21. George Jay Gould was the eldest son of railroad robber baron Jay Gould. Upon his father's death in 1892 George inherited a portion of the Gould fortune (Jay Gould left $15 million to George and $10 million to each of his other 5 children) and his father's railroad holdings, including the DRGW and the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Having seven children together, Edith turned a blind eye when her husband fathered additional children with showgirl Guinevere Jeanne Sinclair.
