Dear friends,

Welcome to Sofia, the vibrant capital of Bulgaria! Beyond its bustling streets and iconic landmarks, lies a world of enchanting secrets waiting to be discovered. In this video, I’ll take you off the beaten path, away from the tourist crowds, and into the heart of Sofia’s hidden gems.

Our journey begins at the mesmerizing Golden Bridges - These natural wonders, though not actual bridges, evoke a sense of magic and wonder. The Golden Bridges is a stone river on Vitosha Mountain. The name is derived from the golden coloured liken that covers the massive stones. As the sun rises or sets, these rocks truly come alive, casting a warm, golden glow. The rock landform has been shaped over time by the combined forces of wind, and water, involving five processes, such as: weathering, solifluction, frost heaving, frost sorting, and washing. I have a more detailed video about the Golden Bridges. If you want to watch it you can click the link below:

From porcelain beauties to handcrafted marionettes, this museum is a portal to childhood dreams and forgotten tales. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself smiling at these silent companions. The exhibition includes about 3000 dolls from Bulgaria, as well as from other countries. You can visit the museum only upon request. You just need to call the following number: +359 886 347 217, the warm and knowledgeable museum caretaker will personally walk you through every fascinating detail, ensuring your visit is truly memorable.

Our final stop takes us to the Druzhba neighbourhood, where imposing concrete towers stand as silent witnesses to Bulgaria’s past. Built during the communist era, these structures evoke both awe and nostalgia.
