Onboard Austrian regional express train as is travels along Lake Traun or Trunsee. Traunsee is a picturesque lake located in the Salzkammergut region of Upper Austria, Austria. It is the deepest and by volume the largest lake entirely within Austrian territory, with a maximum depth of 191 meters and a surface area of approximately 24.5 square kilometers. The lake is 12 kilometers long and 3 kilometers wide. At the north end of the lake is the town of Gmunden, while the town of Ebensee is at the south end. Other towns around the lake include Altmünster and Traunkirchen. The lake is surrounded by beautiful mountains, with Traunstein being the most prominent at the east side of the lake.
