An investigation is underway after deputies shot an allegedly armed man who was harassing people in East Los Angeles late Friday evening.

It happened a little before 10 p.m. when deputies were called to the El Tio Tono Market near Pomeroy Street and N. Eastman Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Upon arrival, they confronted the suspect, a man who was allegedly armed with a metal stick.

Circumstances leading up to what prompted deputies to open fire remain unclear, but at some point deputies opened fire on the suspect, who died at the scene.
