Hybrid classical-quantum computer architecture for molecular modeling

Abstract

A method of simulating a molecular system using a hybrid computer is provided. The hybrid computer comprises a classical computer and a quantum computer. The method uses atomic coordinates {right arrow over (R)}n and atomic charges Zn of a molecular system to compute a ground state energy of the molecular system using the quantum computer. The ground state energy is returned to the classical computer and the atomic coordinates are geometrically optimized on the classical computer based on information about the returned ground state energy of the atomic coordinates in order to produce a new set of atomic coordinates {right arrow over (R)}′n for the molecular system. These steps are optionally repeated in accordance with a refinement algorithm until a predetermined termination condition is achieved

2014 Here, we introduce a new class of computer which does not use any circuit or logic gate. In fact, no program needs to be written: it learns by itself and writes its own program to solve a problem. Godels incompleteness argument is explored here to devise an engine where an astronomically large number of IfThen arguments are allowed to grow by self assembly, based on the basic set of arguments written in the system, thus, we explore the beyond Turing path of computing but following a fundamentally different route adopted in the last half a century old non Turing adventures.

Certain sequences of DNA make up genes, which are the “instructions” for making proteins that do most of the heavy lifting within a cell. However, in response to its molecular environment, a cell may need to have more or less of a certain protein to carry out its function. This complex process of controlling the production of proteins is known as gene regulation. The proteins that regulate which genes are expressed are known as transcription factors (TFs). In order to carry out their function, TFs need to be able to find and attach themselves at specific locations of the genome.
