Dr. Angela Kade Goepferd (they/them) is the Chief Education Officer and the past Chief of Staff for Children’s Minnesota, the Medical Director of Children’s Minnesota Gender Health Program and a pediatrician in the Children’s Minneapolis Primary Care clinic. They have been at Children’s for the last 18 years, and in that time have been an advocate for advancing equitable healthcare for all children. Dr. Goepferd has a passion for working with underserved and at-risk kids and families, speaks Spanish and cares for a diverse community of patients both the primary care and gender health settings. They are seen as a leader in the LGBT community in driving equitable care for LGBT youth, particularly transgender and gender diverse youth and are a sought-after speaker and trainer on these topics. They have received several local and national awards for their work in advocacy and education, including the inaugural Business of Pride award in 2018 and the Health Care Heroes award in 2022 from the Mpls/St. Paul Business Journal, a special recognition award for excellence in LGBTQ youth and education from the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2019, the prestigious Ellen Perrin Award for LGBTQ Excellence in 2022, the Lavendar Magazine Community Pride Award in 2023, QUEERSPACE Collective Youth Champion Award in 2023 and the Eric Dick Advocacy Award from the Minnesota Chapter of the AAP in 2023. They were named the Grand Marshall of the Twin Cities Pride Parade in 2023. Their first TEDx talk, "The revolutionary truth about kids and gender identity" was released in October 2020.
