The unit is designed for air defence of the actions of various ground units performing combat missions and in places of concentration, from strikes by high-precision weapons, guided and anti-radar missiles, guided bombs, aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, reconnaissance and attack drones.

The accuracy of combat use allows the crews to destroy up to 8 enemy air targets with one ammunition load, after which, the air defence system is removed from combat duty and decreases to reload in the ammunition area.

From the first day of the special military operation, the crews of the TOR-M1 air defence system provide air cover for ground forces, carrying out combat duty at the forefront, saving the lives of personnel and the combat readiness of motorised rifle, tank and artillery units.
