Israel said the vast majority of more than 300 dronesand missiles launched by Iran were intercepted overnight.

The attacks - which drew international condemnation -marked the first time Iran has targeted Israel directly from its own soil.

It is unclear how Israel plans to respond, but warcabinet minister Benny Gantz has said it will "exact aprice" for Iran's attack when the timing is right.

Iran had been warning that it would retaliate after anIsraeli strike killed Iranian military commanders inDamascus earlier this month.
