We begin by exploring the historical context in which the Christian Church once held significant sway over marital norms and practices. We discuss how, traditionally, the church served as the moral and legal authority on matters of marriage, guiding couples through their vows and commitments based on biblical principles. However, the narrative shifts to the present day, where the government has largely taken over the role of regulating and defining marriage, leaving the church with diminished influence.

Central to our conversation is the assertion that the government now acts as the "guardian of the girls," a phrase we use to encapsulate the notion that many contemporary legal frameworks and social policies are designed to protect women's interests, sometimes at the expense of maintaining a balanced perspective on marital responsibilities and rights. We critically assess the implications of this shift, suggesting that it has contributed to a skewed perception of men, illustrated by extreme claims that "women find bears less dangerous than human men."

Moreover, we argue that with the changing attitudes of women towards marriage, driven by both cultural shifts and different expectations of what a marriage should entail, the church must reconsider its stance on pushing marriage as a one-size-fits-all ideal.
