Georgia lieutenant governor slams Fani Willis as new prosecutor enters fray

Georgia Republican Lt. Gov. Burt Jones is under investigation for his alleged involvement in efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the state.

The Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia appointed executive director Peter Skandalakis to lead the investigation.

This move follows the disqualification of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who had previously sponsored a fundraiser for Jones’s Democratic opponent.

Jones was mentioned in a sweeping indictment of former President Donald Trump and others, referred to as “unindicted co-conspirator Individual 8.”

Despite Trump’s loss in Georgia, Jones was part of the alternate slate of electors put forward by Trump’s allies, the Washington Examiner reports.
