MARCH 1994 MARKED A TURNING POINT IN DANA'S LIFE WHEN HE ENCOUNTERED AN ASSAULT BY FIVE YOUNG BLACK MEN INTRODUCING HIM TO A STARK REALITY WITH THE WORDS: "WELCOME TO RACISM”! THIS PIVOTAL MOMENT LED HIM ON A NEARLY 30-YEAR MISSION WITHIN CHICAGO'S INNER-CITY BLACK COMMUNITIES. FROM BUILDING TRUST WITH YOUNG MEN ON THE STREETS TO HIS DEVOTED 18 YEARS VOLUNTEERING AT COOK COUNTY JAIL MAXIMUM SECURITY AND 13 YEARS AT THE COOK COUNTY JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER, DANA IMPACTED OVER 7,000 YOUTHS YEARLY AS A SPEAKER FOR THE VICTIM IMPACT PANEL. DANA ATTRACTED OVER 350 YOUTHS WEEKLY TO ROGERS PARK BAPTIST CHURCH, OFFERING A RANGE OF ENRICHING ACTIVITIES. HIS INITIATIVE, ONELOVE, COUPLED WITH HIS 65,000 SOCIAL MEDIA FOLLOWERS, EMBODIES HIS COMMITMENT TO CHALLENGING RACISM AND ADVOCATING FOR JUSTICE. DANA IS GLOBALLY RECOGNIZED FOR HIS CANDID DISCUSSIONS ON WHITE PRIVILEGE AND SUPREMACY, GUIDED BY HIS PRINCIPLE: "I'D RATHER BE HATED FOR SPEAKING TRUTH THAN LIKED FOR REMAINING SILENT"!
