The Orange County Sheriff's Office is honoring the work of a deputy who saved the life of a 2-week-old.

According to OCSO, Deputy Ben Hayden responded to a call about a newborn who was choking on March 14. On the scene, Hayden found the mother holding the baby, but the baby wasn't breathing.

In bodycam video released by the sheriff's office, Hayden can be seen taking the newborn from the panicked mother and administering back taps that helped clear the baby's airway.

It wasn't long before the baby started making small crying noises, which let the deputy know the newborn had started breathing again. As Hayden waited for paramedics to arrive, he continued to administer aid.

"She's breathing. She's got a pulse," Hayden says in the bodycam video.

At the end of the video, the deputy can be seen passing off the 2-week-old to paramedics.

"Thanks to the quick action by Deputy Hayden, the baby recovered," OCSO said. "The baby is now safely back home. We're proud to have deputies like Ben Hayden serving our community."
