A Critique of Locke's First Treatise

The Divine Right of Kings was a doctrine often vociferously advocated for by men such as Sir Robert Filmer, making use of the scriptures as a justification for the enslavement of mankind. John Locke sought to demonstrate the error of this, by use of scripture as well. While I admire Locke's aim, I find the scriptures to be a poor tool for his chosen undertaking.
