Indiana State Police are advising caution ahead of the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.

With increased traffic already observed in southern Indiana, particularly along main roads like Interstate 65, authorities are urging travelers to plan their trips carefully.

The eclipse, the first since 2017 and the last until 2044, will be visible across the region, with some areas like Jasper, Paoli, and Seymour experiencing 100% totality.

Sgt. Stephen Wheeles emphasized the importance of arriving early, staying in one place, and leaving if necessary to view the eclipse safely.

Additionally, police recommend filling up gas tanks before traveling and packing food and drinks, WDRB has reported.
