Eleven Republican-led states have initiated legal action against President Biden and Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, aiming to halt the administration's latest plan to cancel student loan debt. Filed on Thursday in a Kansas federal court by the state's Attorney General Kris Kobach, the lawsuit is supported by attorneys general from Alabama, Alaska, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana, Nebraska, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah. Their argument centers on Biden's alleged overreach in establishing the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan, an income-driven repayment program for student loans projected to cost taxpayers up to $475 billion over a decade.
