Reporter ARRESTED After Exposing the “Largest Money Laundering Scheme in the History of the Country”

That’s no longer allowed in this country.

Investigative reporter Peter Bernegger had been involved in uncovering a scheme involving “smurfs” - individuals unknowingly used to funnel small-dollar donations to political candidates, which he described as potentially the “largest money laundering scheme in the history of the country.”

Bernegger was arrested by the Dane County Sheriff for “Simulating Legal Process.”

In March 2023, James O’Keefe of O’Keefe Media Group interviewed several of these “smurfs,” revealing that they had not knowingly made the large amounts of donations that were recorded in their names, often amounting to thousands of dollars through small contributions from “unemployed” seniors.

High-profile Democrats, including Senators Raphael Warnock and John Fetterman, and others, were reported to have benefited from this operation.
