The Interior Was Worse Than We Thought... Everything Had To Go...

In today's video we will discuss how scary😦 things can get when you gut a project car from CoPart or any other salvage yard. But first - Shout Out to @GearsandGasoline for being an inspiration for this build! Love you guys! We found all kinds of things in the car and 99.999% of it all ended up in the bins.

It can get rather scary ripping apart a vehicle from the salvage yard, and this was no different. This vehicle was filled with standing water (due to a dead battery); the auto raise/lower windows (like on the broncos), were down enough to let water in, thus causing a good amount of standing water in the rear and trunk area.

Water in carpet and upholstery/foam is a breeding ground for mold; couple that with food - we just gutted everything except the headliner. All the seats and trim pieces went. The trunk was even gutted (but we kept the donut tire).👍

We were grateful to find the floor pans to be in excellent condition with minimal rust. It wasn't like most of them where the floors would be spongy because the metal underneath is gone but the support beams are good. We were thrilled the floors were in such excellent condition. I (Jill) mentioned, it's a lot better than Ben's Evo in @GearsandGasoline because that poor car was in rough shape on the flooring. Love @GearsandGasoline - such a good channel to watch if you have not already - definitely check them out as they do all kinds of neat things with the cars they build. Truly inspiring.

We did find change in the weirdest of places though. I mean literally in the MOST unexpected places to find money, we found it. So, it did pay us back a little - it has yet to be counted as it still needs to be cleaned. 🤢

The interior is not going to go back in. It was going to be ripped out anyway to save weight when it comes time to race. The heavier the car, the slower it goes. The lighter the car, the faster it will go. Shaving off unnecessary weight is needed for races.
