DR Congo's First Female Prime Minister: Judith Tuluka | Vantage with Palki Sharma

The Democratic Republic of Congo has hit a new milestone in women empowerment. The DRC has appointed its first female Prime Minister. Judith Suminwa Tuluka has been appointed PM by President Félix Tshisekedi. This was one of his campaign promises, that allowed him to win the December elections by a landslide. The DRC has been trying to bring about a societal change in the attitude towards women. The country has faced internal conflict for years, and as a result various armed groups control parts of the country. Sexual violence is common in Rebel held areas. So the appointment of a female PM is a way for the DRC to promote women's safety.
