Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina Slams Opposition for Anti-India Campaign

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina criticised the opposition party, BNP, for politicizing the Indian saree and questioned their commitment to boycotting Indian products. BNP launched an anti-India campaign, vowing to boycott Indian products. PM Hasina questioned the sincerity of the campaigners and said BNP leaders should burn their wives' sarees if they truly follow it. The boycott campaign started earlier this year after BNP leaders accused India of interfering in Bangladesh's politics. The BNP has often targeted PM Hasina and her party for maintaining close ties with India but despite the criticism, she maintains a strong relationship with India. The opposition alleges that India backs Hasina because the country's current status quo suits their interest.
