Israel fired missiles at consulate of high-ranking Iranian officials in Syria, casualties reported

Israeli Air Forces have launched an airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syrian capital Damascus, Iran's state TV channel reported. Iran's ambassador to Syria Huseyn Akbari said that at least eight people died as a result of the attack. The ambassador confirmed that Iranian diplomats and military advisers were among the killed, including Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahidi and his deputy Mohammad Hadi Rahimi of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. According to the information of the Syrian Defence Ministry, Israeli planes struck from the direction of the Golan Heights. Air defense systems managed to shoot down several of the missiles. Iran's ambassador to Syria said that there would be harsh response to the attack. Israel has not comment on the incident yet.
