Possible explosion at Lower Price Hill scrap metal recycling company

A fire broke out at a Lower Price Hill recycling business Monday afternoon. Firefighters responded to River Metals Recycling on State Avenue, where they said scrap metal was on fire, mostly appliances and similar items. District Fire Chief Jason Vollmer said no structures caught fire and there were no reported injuries. The largest problem was the amount of scrap firefighters had to move through to reach all the fire, according to Vollmer.
