Vice mayor pushes for two-year terms

Vice Mayor Christopher Smitherman has argued that shorter terms — rather than the four-year terms currently in place — for City Council members would keep them more accountable to the community they serve, but others worry it would make Council less productive by forcing them to constantly focus on campaigning.
