Cape Buffalo and American Bison are both formidable bovine species, each with its own distinct characteristics and habitats.

The Cape Buffalo (Syncerus caffer) is native to Africa and is renowned for its robust build, large curved horns, and unpredictable behavior, earning it the nickname "The Black Death." These animals typically inhabit grasslands, savannas, and forests across sub-Saharan Africa, often found in herds led by a dominant bull. Their imposing presence and collective defense mechanisms make them one of Africa's most iconic and feared animals, capable of defending themselves fiercely against predators like lions.

On the other hand, the American Bison (Bison bison), commonly referred to as the buffalo, roamed the vast grasslands of North America in massive herds, particularly on the Great Plains. Despite being often called buffalo, they are not closely related to the true buffalo species. American Bison are characterized by their massive size, shaggy coats, and distinctive humped shoulders. Once on the brink of extinction due to overhunting and habitat loss, conservation efforts have led to a gradual recovery of their populations.
