Soldiers take part in ceremonial duties, standing guard for about an hour, three times within 48 hours. During this time, they must stand completely still until is replaced by another guard. They work in pairs during the changing of the guard to coordinate their movements. The ceremonial steps performed during the changeover are done slowly to prevent any issues with blood circulation after being immobile for an hour.
