Matt Poss Original Song - Rolling Thunder

I wrote this back in 2005 for a high school friend who was killed in Afghanistan. This song caught the attention of Armed Forces Entertainment and got us invited to do multiple tours overseas, performing for military personnel from England all the way over to Afghanistan, and many stops in between. God bless our troops and veterans!

ROLLING THUNDER:

JAKE WAS MY BEST FRIEND,
BLOOD BROTHERS TIL THE END,
WE RAISED HELL AND HALF OF HEAVEN,
IN THAT LITTLE TOWN WHERE WE LIVE,
WE DRANK OURSELVES CRAZY,
THE DAY THAT HE JOINED UP,
NOW FOREVER YOUNG HE'LL STAY,
SHINING IN THE SUN

CHORUS:
WRAPPED IN ROLLING THUNDER,
THAT'S HOW WE BROUGHT HIM HOME,
SAME WAY THAT HE LIVED AND DIED,
IN THE EYE OF A RAGING STORM,
RISING TO THE HEAVENS,
OUR MAKER HAD TO HEAR THE SOUND,
WRAPPED IN ROLLING THUNDER,
AND WE LAID THAT SOLDIER DOWN

NOW HE DIDN'T TRUST POLITICIANS,
AND HE DIDN'T TRUST THE NEWS,
THE ONLY ONES HE TRUSTED,
WERE NEXT TO HIM WEARING THE SAME BOOTS,
AND THE VETS THAT SAW HIM OFF THAT DAY,
SEEMED TO FEEL IT ALL RIGHT TRUE,
SANG ANOTHER BROTHER HOME,
WITH THEIR LOUD TATTOOS

NOW WHEN REVEREND PHELPS SHOWED UP,
I LOOKED UP AT THE SUN,
AND I THANKED GOD FOR BOTH OF US,
THAT I DIDN'T HAVE A GUN,
BUT I KNOW JAKE WOULD HAVE SMILED,
WHEN THOSE HOGS CAME ROLLING IN,
AND WRAPPED HIS CRYING MOTHER,
IN THAT ROARING DIN
