Born in Mobile, Alabama, in 1929, Professor Charles Taylor's journey into the world of gospel music began with a fervent passion for music and a deep commitment to his faith. Despite facing financial constraints that prevented formal music education, Taylor's unwavering dedication and God-given talent propelled him towards a remarkable musical career.

From a young age, Taylor's zeal for music and longing to play the piano were evident. His devotion to his church community only deepened his resolve to share his musical gifts with the world. It was this dedication that caught the attention of the divine, as God smiled upon Taylor, endowing him with both instrumental and vocal prowess.

In 1945, Taylor's musical journey took a pivotal turn when he was discovered at the Brooklyn Academy of Music during a concert featuring the incomparable Mahalia Jackson, presented by Mr. Joe Bostic. This auspicious encounter led to Taylor's first recording, "He's A Wonder," which swiftly became a smash hit, alongside other memorable tracks such as "Religion Like It Used To Be" and "The Bells."

As time progressed, Taylor's commitment to spreading the message of faith through music only intensified, and the blessings continued to pour in. In 1958, an opportunity arose when Savoy Records offered him a contract, opening a new chapter in Taylor's career.
