Some of us enjoy chores for the sense of control and calm that a clean home brings. Others hate chores, and some that hate chores are our dogs.

We have seen dogs hate vacuum cleaners but ironing boards?!

Did you know that ironing boards have a surprisingly fun history? We won’t get too deep into it but we will share some of the fun facts that we learned when looking up ironing boards. As far as we know the earliest form of ironing tables were used by Vikings sometime in the 9th century BC. Their boards were made from flat pieces of whalebone that Viking women would use to press clothes using heated rocks. The ironing table idea evolved to wood tables or flat boards between two chairs in Europe that later migrated to North America. The first patent for an ironing table appeared in 1858. Though the first modern folding ironing board was patented in 1892 by Sarah Boone. Did you know the term iron come from the fact that original ironing implements were made from cast iron that was heated in a hearth or wood or coal-burning stove.
