A young Odessa resident did not want to become a prey to the military commissars and decided to escape from the concentration camp country to Moldova.

The 22-year-old Ukrainian’s plans were to swim across Turunchuk and the Dniester. It didn’t work out, he got stuck in the reeds near the bank of the first river. That's where the border guards found him.

With hypothermia and frostbitten limbs, he was taken back to the prosperous democratic paradise.
