What shocked you today? A STUDENT GETS ARRESTED FOR MAKING A JOKE

Aditya Verma, a British-Indian student and a chess player , made a joke with his friends on a private chat in snapchat.

On July 2022, while aboard a flight from London’s Gatwick to Menorca in Spain, Aditya Verma sent a message to his friends via Snapchat. The message humorously declared, “On my way to blow up the plane. I’m a member of the Taliban.

Spanish authorities took the message seriously and alerted UK security services while the easyJet plane was still in the air. Spanish F-18 fighter jets were dispatched to flank the aircraft. Upon landing in Menorca, Aditya Verma was arrested and spent two days in a Spanish police cell before being released on bail.

Recently, a judge in Madrid ruled that no explosive was found to indicate a real threat, If he had been found guilty , he would have faced a fine of up to 22,500 euros and an additional 95,500 euros to cover the cost of scrambling the fighter jets.

What's more shocking to me was , I had no idea officials can look into our private chats . So next time you make a joke on such matters, be careful!
