We need you to contact your Senators and Representatives to urge a vote in favor of each of these bills HB974, HB976, HB977, HB1207 and SB189 to bring greater security to GA elections. We need all 5 bills to pass. SB189 and HB974 and HB976 are absolutely critical for passage. Let your lawmakers know that if they vote in favor of these bills you will support them in November.
HB974 requires ballots to be printed on security paper with visible watermark, ballot images scanned at 600dpi and available to the public, a risk limiting audit definition and what is allowed in the audit.
HB976 requires the homeless to use the county registrar's office as home address, rules for voter challenges, 3 election workers to witness mail in ballots, and a tightening chain of custody.
HB977 specifies certain dates for special elections and allows tax questions only to be asked on the November general election.
HB1207 requires election workers be US Citizens, provide reopen qualifying if no candidate qualified for race, candidates allowed to proof ballot prior to finalization of official ballot, determine number of voting booths based on expected turnout, clarify poll watcher provisions, prohibit threats to election officials or poll watchers.
SB189 provides counties with less than 5,000 registered voters may conduct on paper ballots, text portion of ballot used to tabulate ballots, absentee ballots may only be tabulated on election day no later than 1 hours after polls close, authorizes each political party to have 2 observers to monitor mail in ballot tabulation.
