Josh Gates Examines UFO Footage

To help me examine the numerous pieces of video evidence, I enlist the help of investigator Ben Hanson, who's worked with the FBI to determine and debunk so-called paranormal footage. Also assisting is my director of photography, Brian Weed. No one knows more about cameras and what can be done with them than Brian. Up here. Come here, get a camera over here. You see it right there?

What the hell is that? You see it right there? So when I saw this, I was like, wow, okay, this is great because I have a lot of experience looking at objects in the sky with night vision. Well, the intensity impressed me. This is something that we didn't just see in the night vision scope. We saw this clearly with the naked eye. That's what first got my attention. Yeah. I mean, it was bright.

I mean, the fact that you guys are seeing with the naked eye, it's appearing when no other stars appear on the night vision scope. It's moving.

Well, I love it. I love it. So what is it? I'm not able to tell you what it is.

It's still a mystery. I put it in that gray box. Right. So something possibly compelling there, but ultimately unidentifiable. Correct. After reviewing the Chilean footage, we next turn to a remarkable video my crew captured in Mina, Arkansas, with investigator Chase Kletzke.

Oh, right there. Brian, get a camera over here. Come here. Left to right, right in there.

You see it? So what do you make of this video? You see what we have here. This, in the night vision world, is called a halo or blooming effect. Uh-huh. And that tells us that the intensities overwhelm the intensifier tube, and it's doing all it can to shut down the available light. So whatever you were seeing is bright enough to come through the foliage to create the blooming effect, and it's slow.

Did you get the sense that it was, like, hovering? At times, it seemed like it was hovering, and then it would sort of slow down. At times, it seemed like it was hovering, and then it would sort of move along, and then it would kind of drift. I mean, just sort of drifted along. For me, it was moving, and I did have to follow it. What about the possibility that someone had a drone far enough away you couldn't hear it, and they had an LED light that they're able to turn on and then turn it off? Can't imagine you could fly a drone in that thick of a forest at night in pitch black without crashing it into a tree within the first few seconds.

I don't know what it is. I don't. So what you guys have captured, I mean, is quite literally a UFO. It's unexplained and quite remarkable. Great. Nice work, buddy.
