Second Chances and Forgiveness

Scripture: “God’s glory is to overlook a transgression.” See Proverbs 19:11b
Simon is an archetype, or typical example of all of us really. We are flawed, weak, unpredictable human beings especially when we are ruled by our mental arena, or carnal minds. When we allow our minds to dictate to us we carry unforgiveness, immorality, unfaithfulness and many of the ills of the world in our hearts. We cannot see clearly or have a revelation of God when we allow the mind to corrupt our view of heaven and our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Peter was God’s chosen because he believed Jesus was the Son of God, he had this revelation even when he ran for his life, he knew this. That is why God gave Peter, the rock, a second chance and a third chance and, as we too, as believers, we can also see how many chances God has given us because of His love for us.
Psalm 107:1-3 in the Passion Translation
“Let everyone give all their praise and thanks to the Lord! Here’s why- He’s better than anyone could ever imagine. Yes, He’s always loving and kind, and His faithful love never ends. So, go ahead- let everyone know it! Tell the world how He broke through and delivered you from the power of darkness and has gathered us together from all over the world. He has set us free to be His very own!”
The Bible, (the New Kings James version), is always the standard. Some paraphrases for clarity. The Passion translation was used also.
