The Mickey Mouse Theater of the Air was a 1938 musical-variety radio series for children, sponsored by Pepsodent and heard on NBC on Sunday afternoons, featuring Mickey Mouse and other characters from Walt Disney's cartoons and comic strips. The program was created to promote the February 1938 release of Disney's first animated feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

While Walt hadn't yet produced his King Arthur movie, he would buy the rights to the Sword in the Stone the year after this episode aired. The project was worked on off and on until the animated feature The Sword in the Stone debuted in 1963. Prior to that, Walt had considered doing a live action film in the UK of King Arthur after The Sword & the Rose and some early Disneyland materials cite the castle in the center of the park as belonging to King Arthur.
