BBC documentary. On October 21st 1966 a roaring avalanche of coal waste crashed into a school & 18 houses in the south Wales village of Aberfan. Death & destruction were wrought in a few unbelievable minutes. It was a race against time to rescue survivors. 116 children & 28 adults were killed. It is a day everyone who lived through it will always remember. In this film the people of Aberfan tell their stories of tragic loss, miraculous survival & heroic rescue. They also reveal how they have coped with the consequences of the disaster. This is their story of surviving Aberfan.
