Tibetan tea consumption prevents obesity

Abstract
To investigate the health effects of Tibetan tea on human body. 31 volunteers meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria were recruited into the study. All subjects consumed tea at dose of 6 g per day for 3 months. The indices including body weight, blood pressure, serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), blood glucose and uric acid of the subjects were measured before and after the trial respectively. 50 volunteers meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria were recruited into the study. All subjects consumed tea at dose of 6 g per day for 15 days. Intake of food containing fiber, frequency of defecation, defecation status and fecal trait were recorded daily. Results showed that levels of body weight, serum triglyceride, LDL-C, blood glucose and uric acid of the subjects decreased after the trial (P<0.05). The weekly frequency of defecation of the subjects increased after the trial (P<0.05), meanwhile the scores of defecation status and fecal trait decreased after the trial (P<0.05). Tibetan tea intake is helpful for weight loss, assisting serum triglycerides reduction, regulating blood glucose r and uric acid, facilitating feces excretion.
