FedEx employee charged after shooting inside unoccupied FedEx building
A 27-year-old Milwaukee man has been arrested and charged in the investigation into a shooting at an unoccupied FedEx facility, according to the Menomonee Falls Police Department (MFPD.)
Isaiah K. Dorsey, 27, is facing the following charges:
* Armed burglary
* Criminal damage to property, use of a dangerous weapon
* Resisting or obstructing an officer
Officers say they got a call around 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, about a suspect who had entered the FedEx facility on County Line Road with a semi-automatic handgun.
"Attention area 5 units, there's a gun call at FedEx," a dispatcher said Sunday night. "He just entered the main building. Our caller's in the guard shack. We're instructing employees to lock the doors."
A few minutes after that on the radio, an officer said they heard shots. According to the MFPD, Dorsey fired 25 rounds while inside the building.
"Shots fired, we're going in," the officer said over the radio.
Employees, who didn't want to go on camera, told TMJ4 that they walked into their workplace covered in bullet holes Monday morning.
Police say Dorsey came out of the building with a gun in hand. Officers say he initially obeyed orders to put the gun down, but that he resisted when officers tried to arrest him. Officers say they were able to subdue him and get him checked out at a hospital, and then booked into the Waukesha County Jail with recommendations for a misdemeanor charge.
As officers investigated the incident further, they determined that Dorsey was from Milwaukee and was a current FedEx employee. Police determined that Dorsey fired 25 rounds "indiscriminately" from a Glock 19x pistol.
That gun is the only one officers believe was used and was collected as evidence.
FedEx sent TMJ4 the following statement:
We are aware of the incident in our Menomonee Falls, WI. facility last night and are grateful for the quick action by our security team and local law enforcement who apprehended the suspect. Safety of our team members is our highest priority, and we are thankful there are no injuries. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement’s investigation and any further questions should be directed to the investigating authorities.
