From MrTurbodiesel's perspective: The 5.7L Detroit Diesel V8 engine is the most unreliable engine like Navistar's VT365 (6.0L Ford Powerstroke) & the most undesirable motor. It had a fatal design flaw that would give car owners a lot of problems. My Grandpa Warren said that: "Detroit Diesel weren't good engine builders." So they discontinued it in 1984 and just had to move on with the sluggish bus & pickup truck motor 6.2L Detroit Diesel engine 128hp. GM Mechanics would swap out the old 5.7L Detroit Diesel V8 & moved on putting in gas V8 engines from now on.
