This final Laugh-O-Gram became the foundation of the Walt Disney Studio. It's original title was Alice in Slumberland, a reference to Winsor McCay's popular newspaper comic strip Little Nemo's Adventures in Slumberland. After Laugh-O-Grams went bust, Walt Disney moved to Hollywood with this unfinished short in his briefcase. When live action director jobs were closed to him, Walt returned to animation and finished the short in his Uncle's Herbert's garage. Shortly afterward, he sold the series of Alice shorts to the successful animated film distributor Margaret J. Winkler. Walt teamed up with his brother Roy, sent for Ub Iwerks, who'd been his primary animator on the short, and the live action child actress who'd been in this short, Viginia Davis, and the Disney Bros Studios was established by Roy and Walt Disney in Los Angeles on October 16, 1923. The successful Alice Comedies series ran for 57 episodes and was finally replaced by Walt's new star, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in 1927.

16 Alice Comedies shorts are believed to be lost.

This is the 1st Alice Comedies cartoon in the series.
