The credibility of the media in the United States is at an all-time low and few Americans feel they can't trust any information that they get from mainstream outlets. Ever since the 1996 Telecommunications Act and the deregulation that led to ownership of media platforms being consolidated into fewer and fewer hands trust in the media has been on a steady decline. Today 90% of the nation's media is controlled by less than 10 corporations and they all seem to have the same agenda driven and biased reporting. It has been a problem for a long time. However, in the era of Donald Trump it seems the media is working overtime to destroy any of the remaining credibility they have, which isn't much. In an obsessive attempt to destroy Trump they have abandoned all of their integrity and journalistic ethics. It's a crisis.
