Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp ground allspice
1 tsp curry powder
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup beef broth
2 packages of empanada dough (store-bought or homemade)
Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp water)
Instructions:
In a skillet, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until softened.
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks.
Stir in the ground allspice, curry powder, dried thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper, and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Add the breadcrumbs and beef broth to the skillet, stirring until well combined. Cook for a few minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and let it cool.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll out the empanada dough on a lightly floured surface and cut out circles using a round cutter or glass.
Spoon some of the beef filling onto one half of each empanada dough circle, leaving some space around the edges.
Fold the other half of the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Use a fork to crimp the edges and seal the empanadas shut.
Place the sealed empanadas on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with egg wash for a golden finish.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the empanadas are golden brown and crispy.
Serve hot and enjoy the delicious fusion of flavors in every bite!
