America's Most Daring Woman

Who was Rose August Wenger (1892-1977) who came to be known as Helen Gibson due to her marriage to cowboy "Hoot" Gibson and her starring role in The Hazards of Helen (1915)? She was an American film actress, vaudeville performer, radio performer, film producer, trick rider, and rodeo performer; and is considered to be the first American professional stunt woman. Crushed under the wheel of a changing Hollywood, she took the American tomboy aesthetic to new heights.
