STREET FIGHT ENDS WITH 1 WOMAN DEAD, 3 SHOT, 2 ARRESTED
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A large street fight among children and adults Thursday evening ended with a woman dead, three others injured and now, two people arrested. The fight and shootings were captured on video by witnesses at the scene. Officers responded to a shooting call in the 1300 block of Quinn Avenue in South Memphis a little before 7 p.m. Thursday. Numerous people were found with gunshot wounds. Tamara Plummer was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. Je'On Davis was pointed out to police as the person responsible for her death. He is charged with First-Degree Murder and Being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun. Davis is also listed in a police affidavit as one of the people who was shot. No bond has been set. Destiney Plummer, the victim's daughter, is charged with Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon. Online information shows her bond of $5,000 was paid Friday morning. Neighbors say Tamara Plummer lived in the neighborhood, and the adult males seen in the viral video pulled up to her home with their children to fight the victim's children. Video obtained from a witness on the scene shows a group of six to eight children fighting with adults surrounding them, at times intervening, as others film the fight on their phones. A woman is seen holding a handgun. A woman in the video points a handgun into the air; at that point a man walks up to her, points a gun and fires several shots at close range as she collapses. “Ooh, they shot her,” a witness says in the video. According to neighbors, Tamara was about to shoot in the air to stop the fight when Davis fired his gun, shooting her in the stomach. Another video shows two men walking toward the group of people fighting — one held a sword, the other a handgun. Davis told police that his daughters were fighting with other children in the neighborhood when he approached Plummer, who was in the center of the melee. According to an officer's affidavit, Davis admitted shooting Tamara Plummer three times, then walked away and threw the weapon in a nearby yard. He says an unknown person gave him the gun, though police say video shows him retrieving it from his SUV. Police say Davis is a felon with a 2016 conviction for aggravated battery in Kansas City, Kansas. After the woman is shot, video shows another woman pick up a gun and fire several shots in the direction of Davis. Davis was struck, along with two other people. Police say that person was Destiney Plummer, age 20. She told police she did hold the gun, but that it went off accidentally.
