In this special episode of Holy Land Uncovered, our Emily Frances is on location in Porto, Portugal, to explore the country's deep Jewish history, the trauma of the Inquisition, and the revival of the Jewish and Israeli-expat community that is growing there today.

Go inside Porto's synagogue, a hallmark of the community with its Sephardic-style, it's also the largest synagogue on the Iberian peninsula.

The newly created Holocaust & Jewish museum marks the history of Jewish presence in the city. Half-a-millennia ago, Jews made up almost 20% of Portugal's population. But the Inquisition kicked them out, forever changing the country's landscape. We visit the Jewish museum to dive deep into this dark chapter of Jewish and Portuguese history, as well as the newly-created Holocaust museum, which marked a turning point as many Jews returned to seek refuge.

Today, Porto is a popular tourist destination, and its small Jewish community can be described as thriving once again.
