Faka Union Fire reaches over 10,000 acres in Collier County

A massive wildfire in Picayune Strand State Forest has reached over 10,000 acres. A spokesman with the Florida Forest Service said the fire is about 50% contained. The fire has been burning since last Friday, north of U.S. 41 near Port of the Islands, and has caused Florida Highway Patrol to periodically close the highway due to smoke. Businesses at the Port of the Islands Marina are starting to feel the pinch from clustomers who can't get to the marina due to the road closures.
