🎵ARTIST BIO: The American vocal group known as The Staple Singers was one of the most successful gospel-to-pop crossover acts of all time. With several Top 20 hits in the early 1970s, the group - which consisted of Roebuck ("Pops") Staples, Cleotha Staples, Pervis Staples, and Yvonne Staples - embraced an impressive stylistic diversity while always remaining true to their gospel roots in terms of harmonies.

Led by Roebuck "Pops" Staples, the quartet first gained notoriety within the gospel music community before branching out into folk and a socially conscious gospel/R&B hybrid.
