Is Individual Liberty At The End Of Its Life Cycle In The United States?

I read a book sometime ago titled The Moat in Gods Eye. it was written by authors Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. It was written back in the 70’s which makes the premise of this episode nothing new, at least to the writers. The premise is the cycle of the fall of a nation. I'm bringing this up because I see conceptual similarities in what's happening to America today in this book. The lifecycle of a nation that was founded on individual liberty ending because of the allure of equity, collectivism through the democratic process.
